Carr Brae Housing Development

The following information was kindly provided by Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association.

• Nature of the Development - The development is to be delivered in 2 separate phases.  The first phase will involve the construction of the new Day Centre for Highland Council’s Social Work Services, (8) No. Special Needs affordable rented houses and the site development and infrastructure works for the remainder of the development.  The construction of the remaining (29) No. affordable rented and shared equity houses and flats will form the second phase of the development.  Please note that depending on the future availability of funding, etc the Association may choose to construct the remaining (29) No. houses in more than one development phase.
• Timeline – The Association is hopeful that the first phase construction works will start on site in early May and hope that the first phase will be complete by April 2010.  Work on the second phase will commence once Scottish Water have provided increased waste water treatment capacity at their existing Brookside septic tank.  Scottish Water are working on proposals for this at the moment and we are hopeful that the second phase of works can roll on from the completion of the first phase, i.e. start in April 2010 and finish in April 2011.

• Housing Mix - The table gives the housing and tenure mix for Phases 1 and 2.

 Please note that the (8) No. Special Needs Affordable Rented houses to be constructed in Phase 1 will be owned and managed by the Association but, SWS will control who is offered a tenancy as these houses will be occupied by elderly occupants who need the services that will be provided at the Day Centre.
