Traffic Management Survey
The Community Council has had concerns raised about the issues caused by poor parking and lack of parking, in the village, on the trunk road (A87) and at Dornie Hall.
We, and managers from Eilean Donan Castle, met with representatives from Highland Council in September 2024 to start discussions on how things could be improved. There are still to be meetings involving the police, Bear Scotland and Transport Scotland (they deal with the A87) and we wanted to ensure that all members of the community have an opportunity to give their views.
The first stage is this survey asking for views, recommendations and ideas. We will hold a meeting in Dornie Hall, on Wednesday 19th February to take proposals to the next stage. The survey is for people who live/and or work in the Dornie & District Community Area.
The only personal information we would ask you for is for your postcode (home and/or work) so that we have a rough idea of anything that’s specific to one area.
We would like to get your views on what could and should happen to address these issues. We would be grateful if you could complete the following survey and return/submit online by 12th February 2025.
(Paper copies will be distributed and if people prefer to use those, could they please return them to a Community Council member by 12 February) N.B a pdf of the survey is available under 2025 Minutes.

Highland Wide Local Development Plan
"The Highland wide Local Development Plan will update and replace parts of the Highland Structure Plan as well as parts of existing Local Plans which cover strategic policy issues. It will set out:
the spatial strategy and vision for the area;
clear policy guidance for development of all types (including reference to Supplementary Guidance where appropriate);
the development principles of key action areas (including the A96 Corridor).
The preparation of this new Local Development Plan will assist with the delivery of economic development for the area, whilst making sure that the quality of the built environment in Highland matches that of the natural environment."
Draft Community Council Scheme
Highland Council:
"The Community Council Scheme sets out the parameters under which Community Councils are created within a Local Authority area, and sets out the framework under which they are to operate.
The draft Community Council Scheme for Highland is made up by a series of documents:
Scheme documents
Standard constitution
Model standing orders
Code of conduct for Community Councillors
Standard financial templates
It is important that Community Councils and the wide public respond to the consultation and tell the Council what they think of this draft documentation."
